Disability, Life and AD&D Insurance

Life Insurance

Employees are automatically covered by Life Insurance and Accidental Disability & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage starting with the first day of work. The Life Insurance benefit is equal to two times annual base pay, up to $500,000 coverage. Employees may purchase additional coverage for themselves, spouses and children at group rates.

Voluntary Supplement Life Insurance

In addition to the life insurance policy provided by the Company, employees may choose to purchase additional life insurance for themselves, and their spouse or children from one to five times their annual base salary. The supplemental life insurance is available for purchase through Principal Life Insurance Company at reasonable group rates and may be continued upon termination of employment.

Short Term Disability

After one year of service, employees are covered by a Short Term Disability plan, which provides income replacement in the event that an employee must be absent due to non-work related illness or injury.

Long Term Disability

After one year of service (five years for Bargaining employees), the plan provides 60% (50% for Bargaining employees) of base pay if a disability lasts longer than six months. In cases of total disability, the plan may pay until you are eligible to draw retirement benefits.

Long Term Care Insurance

This plan is designed to cover custodial care for people who are unable to perform activities of daily living. Employees are able to purchase the insurance at group rates through Unum Provident and during the first 30 days of employment employees are eligible regardless of health history.
